Whether you are an expert or a beginner, some of the drone maneuvers and shot strategies we have compiled below can help you improve aerial cinematography. Let’s get started!
Panning Shot
For this shot, you need to rotate the drone from left to right. The drone must be hovering; this technique is perfect for highlighting several subjects and their connection in one scene. This shot can also be used to highlight one subject.
Drone Reveal Shot
This simple drone movement gradually uncovers the subject to the viewer. The best way to do this is start with your gimbal pointing down, as you fly the drone forward towards you subject, slowly tilt the gimbal upward to reveal the scene. This shot is perfect as an introduction scene and can be used to add suspense and also add scene perspective.
Flying Upward Shot
This is used to maneuver away from the subject by being flown upwards. This highlights the contrast between the main object and the background. The flying upward shot is perfect for adding beautiful transitions.
Tracking Shot
This shot is best if you want to grasp the viewer’s attention. This shot works great if you can fly your drone sideways along your subject. It is great for focusing on moving objects like cars, bikes, etc.
